Asian Indian in the USA!

I was born in the US but my ethnicity is Asian Indian. I have had a huge exposure to both sides of the culture that I’ve lived in and grew up with at home.

I must say I’m grateful to have been born in this country and to have also been exposed to the rich cultural background of India. It’s quite a mix if you imagine where my parents are from and where I was raised.

There are many variations in the society of each culture. For example, in Indian culture it’s often mandatory to pay your respects to elders versus in the US you can call elders by their first name. Or it’s normal to date when you’re a teenager in the US but dating wasn’t accepted in Indian culture especially when my parents were growing up.

We should all value our culture and heritage, as that is a symbol of who we are not just genetically but also in traits and character.
